TransType is a font platform converter that will, in seconds, take TrueType or Type 1 fonts from a Macintosh to a PC or vice versa. Features: • convert Mac TrueType fonts to PC TrueType fonts; • convert PC TrueType fonts to Mac TrueType fonts; • convert Mac Type 1 fonts to PC Type 1 fonts; • convert PC Type 1 fonts to Mac Type 1 fonts; • perform batch conversions of whole libraries of fonts; • select both source and destination encodings of converted fonts; • automatically build font suitcases when converting fonts to Mac; • automatically generate bitmap fonts (with ATM) when converting PC fonts to Mac; and • 22-page PDF user manual. Import formats: • PC Type 1, PC TrueType, Mac Type 1, Mac TrueType Export formats: • PC Type 1, PC TrueType, Mac type 1, Mac TrueType Tools: • encoding conversion; • suitcase customization; • code-page assignment; • script-page assignment; and • removal of unnecessary TrueType tables. Windows: • source-fonts window; • destination-fonts window; • context-sensitive popup menus; and • property windows. Encodings: • Unicode; • ANSI; • ASCII; and • most international encodings. The following new features have been added to TransType original cross-platform conversion capabilities: • TrueType to Type 1 format conversion; • Mac to PC or PC to Mac Multiple Master font conversion; and • creation of Multiple Master instances from either platform (e.g., the user can create a TrueType or Type 1 font on one platform from a Multiple Master font on the other platform).
