Sonar Bookends InFnote is a footnote and endnote tool for InDesign that allows users to quickly and easily add, delete or modify footnotes and endnotes in a document, A document can consist of one file, many files, one InDesign "book" or many "books". Without Sonar Bookends InFnote, placing notes in a document is very time-consuming. And, unless the user takes extreme care, incorrect note references can be created whenever notes are added or removed from a document. Sonar Bookends InFnote uses a "labelling" system to make creating and updating notes a snap. Notes and their references are matched by sharing the same arbitrary label. The power of the labelling systems is that users can create references to notes that do not even exist yet. This allows the user to put note references into a document as it is being written. For example, the user can enter a reference to a footnote about George Washington before the actual footnote has been created. Or they can put in George Washington's footnote before there are any references to it. Whenever the user directs Sonar Bookends InFnote to update the note numbers, it will check to make sure that all notes are referenced and all references have at least one matching note. If a document is changed, with the click of a mouse, all footnotes and endnotes are renumbered and the appropriate numbers are placed in both the references and in the notes themselves. The notes are also moved and sorted so that they are on the right page and in the correct order to match the location and order of the references. References and notes have a character style sheet associated with them, making formatting of the note numbers painless. A simple change to the appropriate style sheet and all notes are reformatted according to the user's specifications. To create a note, the user simply enters a "reference" label in the text where they are referencing a note and a "destination" label in front of the note being referenced. Only when the user tells Sonar Bookends InFnote to update the footnote numbers does the plug-in check for matching reference and destination labels. Each reference label must have a single matching destination label, however a destination label can have many matching reference labels. Features Include: *Microsoft Word footnoes and endnotes can be imported *A text box for footnotes is created dynamically on all pages where such a text bos is needed *EndNotes can now be at the end of a chapter, as well as at the end of a document, with endnote numbering restarting at one for endnotes at the end of each chapter. |
