The Renumberer XTensions module automatically sets consecutive page numbering across multiple QuarkXPress documents. This XTensions module is useful for larger publications which are composed of multiple QuarkXPress documents, each one holding only a single page, spread, or section of the finished piece.
To use this XTensions module, start by selecting the documents to renumber. Using the advanced file-selection dialog, select individual files or scan an entire volume or folder for QuarkXPress documents. The list can also be reordered by simply dragging a document to a new position, and job lists can be saved and reimported at any time. After choosing the jobs, fill in the dialog and press the renumber button. Renumberer will open each document, set up the appropriate page numbering, save the document, and continue on with the next job in the list. When it's finished, all of the QuarkXPress automatic page numbers will reflect the new ordering.
Reporter is used to generate detailed reports (that are themselves neatly formatted QuarkXPress documents) containing many aspects of a document. It is no longer necessary to collect for output to make a simple report about fonts, colors, and pictures. Even better, GLUON Reporter adds many helpful details and other types of reports such as detailed style sheet breakdowns and story analyses.
Feature:
• creates a neatly formatted QuarkXPress document for report
• optionally exclude report details if item is not in use;
• picture reports include thumbnails;
• style reports contain every aspect of paragraph and character styles; and
• story reports provide lots of useful statistics about text such as word counts, average sentence length, and more.

One of the most popular XTensions modules on the market today, Resize XT scales a group of page elements to a specified percentage just as is done in an illustration program. Scale proportionally keeping the horizontal and vertical ratio even, or amorphically choosing two different percentages for fitting the page elements into a design. Graphics, font sizes, text indents, border widths, and line thickness scale automatically along with the selected text and graphic boxes.
The resize xt tool, added to the QuarkXPress tool palette, enables the user to drag the group to the desired size for a perfect layout every time. Size the group visually with the resize xt tool or enter an exact percentage to indicate the desired size. Enter a new width and/or height for the group in order to get the elements exactly the right size.
Features:
• scaling percentages between 10% and the maximum size that does not place the group off the bottom of the page;
• scale proportionally;
• scale horizontal and vertical directions independently;
• scale and maintain the position of the pictures in the scaled boxes;
• scale the line and frame widths;
• scale the text size, even with mixed text sizes;
• scale grouped boxes as well as several selected (yet un-grouped) boxes;
• scale single boxes; and
• scalable paragraph rules, leading, tabs, and indents.
S&R XTn performs conditional-search and conditional-replace routines with QuarkXPress for one document, or saved to perform on several documents.
Though robust, S&R XTn gets even the novice user up and running by providing a starting point with ten full routines that are common problems. With slight modifications to a routine, users will be searching and replacing, and finding and changing like a pro in their first session.
QuarkXPress is capable of performing simple find-and-change routines but when there are several, or dozens, of these routines, how can they all be done in an organized manner? How can the same routine be applied to lots of files? S&R XTn can, for example, import 40 WordPerfect Windows files and each time strip out multiple spaces, rows of empty tabs, double returns, and swap Windows characters for their Macintosh counterparts. Add wildcard support and S&R XTn makes time-consuming find and changes a thing of the past.
ScriptMaster is the only QuarkXPress XTensions module that generates scripts by recording the user's actions, and now works natively in QuarkXPress 4.X and 6.1 or later.
With ScriptMaster, QuarkXPress users don't need to learn the intricacies of AppleScript. ScriptMaster XT generates the proper scripting syntax automatically. Users just record their actions as they work and then play the script back. The automatically generated scripts are fully editable. ScriptMaster XT records any action in QuarkXPress that is supported by QuarkXPress' scripting libraries.
Any program that can respond to scripting events is considered AppleScript compliant. But just being AppleScript compliant is not always enough — there's the time used learning how to write the scripts. With a complicated application such as QuarkXPress, this learning process can be substantial. With ScriptMaster XT, perform the process and have the program generate the script.
ScriptMaster XT watches what processes the user performs, each menu and dialog used, everything clicked and typed. As the work is being done, ScriptMaster XT generates the events that a script editor needs so that actions are recorded using the syntax from QuarkXPress' scripting dictionary. ScriptMaster XT not only records scripts, it also uses the correct syntax so that editing scripts is a snap.
ScriptMaster XT can make every user more productive with QuarkXPress. With ScriptMaster XT turn repetitive, routine tasks of document creation into powerful scripts to be run again and again, each doing their job quickly and accurately and getting from design to production faster than ever before.
Features:
• instant recording and playback of scripts;
• hot links to a favorite script editor;
• scripts folder organizes and provides easy access to scripts; and
• box labels help write scripts by providing an easy method for naming.

ShapeMaker provides a new way to control and create an almost infinite number of unique and useful shapes within QuarkXPress. Shapes are indispensable in almost any design, whether it's a simple rectangle or a complicated silhouette. When QuarkXPress introduced Bezir curves in version 4 they opened a whole world of new shape possibilities, and ShapeMaker takes full advantage of this — no need to switch to an illustration application for those complex box shapes, it can all be done within QuarkXPress.
Shapes can be combined and they can also be manipulated to further serve the designer's needs. Once a shape is created, this is often only the beginning. Implementing the ingenious way QuarkXPress generates shapes, a box can be switched into a text path or vice versa.
Experiment and explore this vast universe of new designs. A basic list of shapes that can be created doesn't do ShapeMaker justice — for each type of shape there are almost infinite variations possible — but to whet the appetite, here's the short list: waves, zigzags, polygons, stars, double stars, swirls, flowers, quasars, polygons, golden rectangles, double squares, golden spirals, archimedian spirals, and various odd shapes. Each shape can be turned into a text box, a picture box, or a path so the uses are endless.
Wave shapes are found throughout nature from water and clouds to a vibrating string. It also happens to be a way to create an almost endless variety of shapes, almost as many as there are different sounds.
The polygon is by far the most-used shape in publishing and design because, after all, a rectangle is a polygon. We can't begin to write about the variety of polygons, but after a little experimentation you'll get the idea. Any shape settings can be saved and then recalled at a later date.

Sonar Bookends Professional for automatic indices and TOCs
There are many ways to create a professional-looking index, table of contents, or site index for a web site, and there are a number of automation techniques, but none compare to the processing and text control of Virginia Systems' line of tools.
Sonar Bookends QkLink allows the user to define PDF bookmarks and hyperlinks inside a QuarkXPress document. When the document is later converted to a PDF, the specified bookmarks and hyperlinks appear in the PDF automatically.
Sonar Bookends Xref is a cross-reference generator for QuarkXPress. Easily embed references for tables, appendices, chapters, figures, and so on, in a document and have the page numbers updated at any time, in seconds. A simple but powerful tagging system allows cross-references to be inserted either while a document is being written or after it is complete. Multiple files can be cross-referenced at one time.
For additional savings, check out the bundle: QuarkXPress Publisher's Basic Bundle.
Add SonarTOC, and QuarkXPress' style sheets become automatic markers for multilevel tables of content. SonarTOC enables the user to specify text selections for special indexing. So, whether the project is a manual, book, report, or just about anything else produced in QuarkXPress, Sonar Bookends (sold separately or as a bundle with SonarTOC) and SonarTOC will generate a complex index and full table of contents in just minutes.
