One of the most popular XTensions modules on the market today, Resize XT scales a group of page elements to a specified percentage just as is done in an illustration program. Scale proportionally keeping the horizontal and vertical ratio even, or amorphically choosing two different percentages for fitting the page elements into a design. Graphics, font sizes, text indents, border widths, and line thickness scale automatically along with the selected text and graphic boxes.

The resize xt tool, added to the QuarkXPress tool palette, enables the user to drag the group to the desired size for a perfect layout every time. Size the group visually with the resize xt tool or enter an exact percentage to indicate the desired size. S&R XTn performs conditional-search and conditional-replace routines with QuarkXPress for one document, or saved to perform on several documents.

Though robust, S&R XTn gets even the novice user up and running by providing a starting point with ten full routines that are common problems. With slight modifications to a routine, users will be searching and replacing, and finding and changing like a pro in their first session.

QuarkXPress is capable of performing simple find-and-change routines but when there are several, or dozens, of these routines, how can they all be done in an organized manner? Sonar Bookends is a powerful index generator capable of producing both an index and a table of contents for a variety of applications (e.g., PDF, Microsoft Word 97 and 98, QuarkXPress, and PageMaker). StripitXT prepares QuarkXPress documents for archiving in minutes. No more extracting page by page. Fast and efficient, StripitXT saves text and pictures into folders, which are easily accessed by searchable databases. Not only does the XTensions module work with Latin text, it is the only XTensions module to extract Arabic-language text for archiving.

StripitXT presents a total solution for the newspaper and magazine industries, in particular. Unlike any other XTensions module, StripitXT links headers with text during extracting to maintain proper sequencing of information. Further, during extracting StripitXT saves the date of publication, issue number, and page number inside text files. Databases automatically load this information when a search is performed.

StripitXT adds a new submenu to the QuarkXPress utilities menu which allows the user to choose default or unique preference settings, to request a StripitXT folder, to extract a PICT preview of an entire page, a PICT preview of every picture box on the page, a text file containing the full path, the name of every picture on the page, and a text file containing the text of all text boxes on the page.

The user is given a range of pre-archiving options, because StripitXT's extensive preferences have been well studied. The user determines which items and how much of each document to extract. The user also has a variety of choices for the final archive of documents, the scale of the PICT preview, exceptions, and article separators, among others. Default and saving options have never made extracting easier or more effective.

Stylin' enables the user to apply certain portions of a QuarkXPress style sheet to text while protecting local formatting. Style sheets are powerful formatting tools, but applying a style sheet may remove attributes that were applied locally. Stylin' solves this problem with a couple of clicks of the mouse.

Stylin' uses a floating palette that contains all the paragraph and character style sheets for a QuarkXPress project. Click on one of the style sheet's names and use the style sheet to override specific attributes. The attributes that are not reformatted are remembered between each use. This product will improve reformatting workflow.

Stylin' stores frequently used settings for easy recall. This prevents the need to constantly change the Stylin' preferences. Shift + click on the style sheet in the Stylin' palette and a simplified dialog interface enables the user to select the setting to apply.

Option + click on the style sheet in the Stylin' palette to choose the attributes to protect when the style sheet is applied to the text. Once the settings are correct store them for quick recall in either of the Stylin' dialog boxes.

With TeXTractor, export all the text in a QuarkXPress document or selected portions of the text using any text-export filter installed in the QuarkXPress XTensions folder.

Open QuarkXPress pages in Photoshop. The TIFF Export XTensions module saves pages or spreads as TIFF for greater portability.

Select the DPI for the resulting TIFFs so the resolution of the image is as great as desired. The exported graphic file is more portable than an EPS because, with TIFF graphics, the fonts are part of the image. TIFF Export even allows user-definable page scaling.
