A stand-alone text editor designed to work with QuarkXPress’ powerful typographical features, and an XTensions module that brings the preformatted and styled text into QuarkXPress using get text.The editor offers the user the ability to enter text quickly, without waiting for QuarkXPress to draw the entered text, or reflow the page to accommodate the text. XT_Edit also accepts ASCII output from other systems, performing an automatic find and change of odd characters or placeholders during import. This facilitates moving text files from one platform to another.XT_Edit supports setting styles to be translated into the appropriate QuarkXPress style sheets, as well as local character-based formatting. There are also special keyboard or menu commands for inserting column breaks and thin, en, em, and non-breaking spaces. The editor has a built-in find-and-change function for text strings, as well as an on-line macro maker for frequently used words or phrases.
