DocuSlim processes images within a QuarkXPress document globally or individually. DocuSlim crops excess image material (with specified bleed), resizes and reimports images at 100%, resamples to a target resolution, converts RGB to CMYK, and turns off LZW compression. All processing is done automatically in Photoshop and new versions of pictures are then reimported to the correct location (even though they might have been cropped). The user can optionally choose which pictures to process. In testing, documents have gone from 14 MB to 2 MB, still maintaining the high quality of the original document. DocuSlim is great for saving space on servers and uploads to printers or emailing. DocuSlim is bundled with a special automation Plug-in to allow the transfer of information between QuarkXPress and Photoshop 5.X or higher (required). Features: • new tabbed dialog; • separate checkboxes for each process; • control over rotate and skew; • change specified images to grayscale; • master-page controls and logic; • process selection, current page, spread, pages, document and/or master pages; • several options for choosing images to omit from the process; • ability to create new folder with document images automatically; • ability to launch Photoshop automatically; and • presets for saving, recalling, and sharing complex settings. Enhanced version includes: • ability to change file format; • ability to process each instance of same image; • ability to call additional Photoshop action; • ability to create a low-resolution version of images; and • AppleScript support.
