BatchOutput Server is a complete output workflow solution which automatically processes Adobe InDesign files from network based hotfolders.
BatchOutput Server is everyone's dream in publishing houses, ad agencies, service bureaus, printing plants, newspapers and magazines—everyone who outputs from InDesign. No more waiting while InDesign outputs your files. All you need to do is copy InDesign documents into one of the BatchOutput Server hotfolders. BatchOutput Server will output the files automatically on its station using the hotfolder settings and it will auto-activate the document fonts, too! The user workstation is always ready for real work because it's not tied up for even a moment by the output process.
And it doesn't matter what platform operators use—BatchOutput Server will output both Mac and PC files, and activate fonts from both platforms as well.
BatchOutput Server is a support person's dream. They now only need to manage a single set of output settings for the entire workgroup, which will be used by everybody. No more running around creating new settings and fixing incorrect ones for every single user. Because all the print, PDF and PostScript settings now reside on the BatchOutput Server station.
This also eliminates the problems and losses caused by inconsistent output settings across the workgroup. These problems are often uncovered only after the file was printed or exported with wrong settings. Which can result in anything from wasted time, to hundreds of dollars in wasted materials, to tens of thousands of dollars in ad reprints, and losing clients.
It's also a dream come true for any manager—whether production, studio, print or prepress—and the company owners. Because with BatchOutput Server, the work actually always flows through the company like water in a river. Instead of being stalled for countless hours a year because of users waiting for InDesign to finish output.
BatchOutput Server also offers automatic e-mail notifications, remote monitoring from other computers on the network, XMP variables for output settings, detailed process logs and much, much more!
BatchOutput Server runs on a dedicated machine and watches hotfolders linked to its Workflow settings. BatchOutput Server performs all its tasks automatically and can run absolutely unattended.
Workflow is a group of output settings specified in BatchOutput Server. You can create Workflows for printing and export to PDF and PostScript. The workflow settings are linked to hotfolders watched by BatchOutput Server.
Hotfolders reside on server volumes available to other computers on the network. Users copy InDesign files into hotfolders watched by BatchOutput Server. The InDesign files in hotfolders are processed automatically using the linked Workflow settings.
Export as Single Pages
BatchOutput Server can automatically export InDesign documents as single page PDF and PostScript files.
Automatic Error Handling
BatchOutput Server checks files for basic problems during processing and can skip files when missing links or fonts, invalid page range, and other errors are detected.
BatchOutput Server can send automatic e-mail notifications during processing. In each Workflow you specify whether to send the notifications or not, and which e-mail template to use. Notifications are triggered by user defined events, such as errors, font activation, process start and others.
Automatic Font Activation
BatchOutput Server can automatically activate document fonts collected with the InDesign file into hotfolder. Both Mac and PC fonts can be activated.
Variable File Names
BatchOutput Server offers unmatched capabilities to create variable output file names, which can include page number, date, script label and other components.
BatchOutput Server has state of the art XML processing engine built-in. It allows users to base some output settings on InDesign XMP metadata. This powerful feature is enabled through XMP Variables, which define how specific XMP tags should be used.
Logs and History
BatchOutput Server logs all its activity into daily logs and lets instantly view the process history for each file.
Users can monitor BatchOutput Server from other computers on the network using the BatchOutput Server Monitor application. The Remote Monitoring can be enabled via either Bonjour network services or Shared Data Folder.
